Managing Policies and Documentation in Bastion

Last updated: June 27, 2025

Overview

Bastion provides a centralized location to manage all your compliance policies and documentation. You can find your policies at Settings > Documents & Policies.

Types of Documents

There are two ways to manage your documentation:

  1. Use Bastion's templates which come pre-configured with standard compliance content

  2. Upload your own existing policies and documentation

Using Bastion Templates

When using a Bastion template:

  1. Navigate to Documents & Policies section

  2. Click "Create Policy" in the top right corner

  3. Select the type of policy you want to create

  4. Review and customize the pre-written content

  5. Click "Approve" once you're satisfied with the content

Uploading Your Own Documents

To upload your existing documentation:

  1. Go to Documents & Policies section

  2. Click "Create Policy"

  3. Select the relevant policy type

  4. Upload your document in PDF format (recommended) or other supported formats

  5. Click "Approve" to finalize

Document Management Best Practices

  • Use role titles rather than individual names in policies to maintain document longevity

  • Keep documents focused on specific topics rather than creating one large document containing all policies

  • Documents can have different names than the standard templates as long as they cover the required content

  • Remember to approve documents after uploading or editing to ensure they are counted in compliance checks

Note: After uploading or approving documents, refresh the related compliance framework checks to see updated status.
